About the (ERIP) and Power Saving Bitz Programs
The Fostering Sustainable Business Practices program, in cooperation with Peterborough Distribution Inc. (PDI), is administering the Electricity Retrofit Initiative Program (ERIP) and Power Saving Blitz (PSB) programs for businesses in the Greater Peterborough Area.  The aim of ERIP and PSB is to assist Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and Agricultural customers to conserve energy and shift their loads from periods of peak demand to lower cost times of the day.

The objective of the program is to leverage energy conservation and load management opportunities by offering incentives for sustainable, measurable and verifiable energy retrofits that result in on-peak demand savings and/or annual energy savings.

Maintaining a reliable supply of electricity is a priority. By reducing peak demand, participating businesses will contribute to the increased viability of the overall supply.

Retrofitting an existing facility with newer equipment is natural business practice.

Technological improvements often make the newer equipment more efficient and effective than the ones they are replacing.  For electricity driven equipment this is almost certainly the case.

The Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) focuses on the areas of lighting, motors, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and the overall electricity systems.  These areas cover the majority of and most important electricity upgrades businesses engage in.

Incentives
Incentives will be available for projects that result in measurable reductions in electrical peak demand. The amount of the incentive awarded depends on the work being done. The incentive is calculated during the application process and must be verified after the work is completed.

Eligibility
Applicants must be General Service customers of PDI.

Applicants may be owners or tenants of business premises supplied by PDI.

Please note that if you are a tenant, you must obtain permission from the property owner for installation of the measures for which an incentive is claimed.

How the Program Works

Power Saving Blitz

power incentivePeterborough Distribution Inc., together with the Ontario Power Authority, is pleased to offer the Power Saving Blitz.  The Power Saving Blitz provides qualifying small businesses with free electricity-saving products and valued up to $1,000 (including installation) – all with the aim of helping businesses like yours become more energy efficient.

Save electricity, save money, help the environment, all in one move.

About the Power Saving Blitz Incentive

There are many opportunities to save electricity in your business and most of them are simple changes.  For example, converting old T12 fluorescent tube lighting with electronic ballasts and T8 tube lighting, they will consume about one third less electricity.  The Ontario Power Authority is committed to ensuring that the province has a reliable and cost effective electricity system that will benefit your business and Ontario.  That’s why they are happy to offer this program to you at no cost.

How the Program Works
If you are interested in the program contact Peterborough GreenUp and we will send one of our representatives to your business.  They will walk you through four simple steps that will ultimately lead you to a more energy-efficient business and energy savings for you.
Step 1:   Assess your business.  Quickly evaluate your lighting and other potential electricity saving possibilities.
Step 2:   Identify electricity-saving opportunities.  Pinpoint where and how your business can become more energy efficient, mainly through upgrades in lighting and other simple retrofits.
Step 3:   Review your options.  Take you through the full list of recommendations.
Step 4:  Install and Upgrade.  Arrange for our licensed electrical contractor to come in and make installations – with your approval at your convenience of course.

Becoming energy efficient has definite rewards.  By making these simple changes, your energy efficiency goes up and your electricity costs go down.  On a larger scale, using less electricity helps protect the environment, which truly benefits everyone.  You should feel good knowing that you have done the right thing-and it will show.  In fact, your participation in this program sends a strong message about how your business is supporting a cleaner environment – for your customers, your community and Ontario.
